Al's Cartage Ltd. has it's own maintenance facility located at the head office in Kitchener. Most repairs are completed at this location, except for some minor repairs performed by local vendors at our outermost terminals.

The maintenance facility contains seven drive through bays, two service pits, a tire shop, a body shop, wash bay, as well as our own stockroom. Our technicians receive training and skill updating, to keep them current with modern repair techniques.

The Al's Cartage fleet consists of single and tandem axle daycab tractors, as well as various configurations of dry vans and container chassis. Trailer lengths vary from 28' to 53', some with tailgates and cargo heaters. Our fleet can meet the most demanding customer needs !

Al's Cartage uses a comprehensive computer maintenance program, which allows us to accurately keep track of all repairs performed on the equipment we have in service.

Our mechanics enter their own work orders into the computer, keeping precise tabs on their labour times and parts used for each unit. The system also keeps control of our parts inventory, adding quantities via purchase orders and relieving the parts from stock as they are placed on the work orders.

Reports generated from this data allow the maintenace department to make informed decisions on equipment repair strategies. Life cycle costs , cost per kilometer, fuel economy, warrantable repairs, chronic failures and inventory trends are all easily tracked from within our system.
